Cockroach
Cockroach, in the context of pest control, refers to a category of insects usually classified as public health pests. Known by various names like roaches, water bugs, or palmetto bugs, these are small, tough, and resistant creatures, renowned for their survivability. While there are approximately 4,600 species globally, only about 30 are associated with human habitats— some commonly recognized are the American, German, and Oriental Cockroaches. They are infamous for their potential to transmit disease pathogens, including those causing food poisoning and allergies, prompting pest management professionals to implement various control methods such as baits, traps, and sprays. These techniques collectively come under the wider umbrella of integrated pest management.
