Insect Growth Regulators (IGR)
Insect Growth Regulators, also called IGRs, are substances used in pest control. These substances act like insect hormones and interfere with insect development, generally stopping them from reaching the stage where they can reproduce. This method of pest control is especially effective as it targets pests at their most vulnerable stage and prevents them from becoming a larger problem. The IGRs are distinct from traditional pesticides as they're species-specific and have minimal impact on non-target organisms. Thus, they stand as an integral part of Integrated Pest Management programs and are often used by professional pest control companies for eradication efforts.
