Pyrethroid
Pyrethroid, in pest control parlance, denotes a class of synthetic chemicals that mimic the natural insecticide pyrethrum, derived from chrysanthemum flowers. Known widely for being highly effective against a wide array of pests, these compounds are frequently employed in numerous pest control formulations such as sprays and foggers. Key attributes that make pyrethroids a popular choice include their fast knockdown effect on pests, low toxicity to mammals and birds, and relatively low persistence in the environment. However, pyrethroids warrant caution due to their toxicity to aquatic organisms. Renowned brands that utilize pyrethroids include Raid, Spectracide, and Hot Shot.
